2025 All-Diplomate Survey Results
The results from the 2025 ABPMR All-Diplomate Survey are in!
We appreciate everyone who took the time to respond to this survey. The survey was sent to 11,948 diplomates with 2,377 responding (20%). Your participation is critical in helping us to evaluate responses that can lead to data-driven insights, ensuring that leadership decisions align with diplomate needs. Periodically surveying diplomates allows us to identify emerging trends, challenges and opportunities that can help evolve and improve the continuing certification process.
The last All-Diplomate Survey was conducted in 2021. That survey provided helpful information that influenced many updates and improvements for diplomates.
Changes made as a result of feedback from the 2021 survey include:
- Increasing the time to answer questions by one minute
- Article-based questions added
- New custom LA-PM&R platform, updated certification dashboard and targeted communications via email, website, and social media
- Streamlined customer service process
- Added the option for reattempts on incorrect answers
- A new process of item development and review for longitudinal assessment questions
Overall, the survey responses indicated a high level of satisfaction with the continuing certification process and the services provided to diplomates by the ABPMR. That’s great news! Several highlights from these include:
- Diplomates have noticed and appreciated that LA questions now more accurately reflect their scope of practice
- ABPMR IHHC-guided templates are beneficial
- Most diplomates believe that self-created IHHC projects are educational and useful
- CC program activities have helped improve the diplomate’s practice
- 92% of diplomates say that the changes made to the CC program in the last several years are overwhelmingly positive
While we feel good about improvements made over the last several years to continuing certification, we know that it is a dynamic process. Your feedback and suggestions will be carefully reviewed so that we can continue to make enhancements that will bring value to your certification and facilitate lifelong learning in the PM&R field.
Some key points we noticed from this survey include:
- Continue to improve the website navigation, improving the diplomate dashboard and notifications
- Additional CME and SA-CME options (Note that recently the ABPMR has collaborated with the ACCME to simplify CME reporting. Go here for more details.)
- Identify opportunities to increase relevance of LA-PM&R questions to your current practice (New this year: To collect initial data to ensure items are relevant to a diplomate’s practice, beginning in 2026 Q2 ABPMR will ask diplomates to indicate the relevance of each item to their practice immediately after answering it during LA participation.)
The following charts illustrate overall responses to the survey:

Thank you again to diplomates who participated in the 2025 survey! We are listening to your feedback and continue to make changes over time, so board certification is relevant and valuable for you, your practice, and your patients.
