Temporary Criteria: Brain Injury Medicine Examination

The Brain Injury Medicine (BIM) Examination is scheduled for September 12, 2022, and the on-time application window closes soon on March 31, 2022. By meeting specific criteria, you may qualify for the exam by way of specialized practice in BIM.

This is the final year that temporary criteria will be in place for qualifying for the exam. You are eligible to apply for the BIM Examination if you have:

  • Completed a 12-month ACGME-accredited fellowship training program in BIM, OR

  • Completed a 12-month non-accredited fellowship training program in BIM associated with an ACGME-accredited PM&R residency training program, OR

  • Completed a minimum of three (3) years full-time practice experience (post-residency and within the last five years) in which at least 25 percent of professional time is devoted specifically to BIM. Practice should be adequately broad to reflect the full scope of the BIM field.
