New Assessment Options for Sports Medicine and Neuromuscular Medicine

Beginning in 2027, new assessment pathways will be available for diplomates seeking to meet their subspecialty assessment requirements. The American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM), in partnership with co-sponsoring Sports Medicine certifying boards, will launch the Sports Medicine Longitudinal Assessment (Sports-LA) program. In addition, the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN), in collaboration with co-sponsoring Neuromuscular Medicine certifying boards, will offer the Neuromuscular Medicine Article-Based Continuing Certification (ABCC) pathway, an article-based learning and assessment option.
